Commissioned for the Lyric Studio Hammersmith, 2007
Two people circle each other in the same condemned building unaware of each other’s presence. Demolition contractor Sarah assesses best methods of destruction. Gary holds out against an eviction order. However, to both of them this building seems far from empty…
Haunted by their past and impending future, Gary and Sarah both clutch at the mysterious ghosts that shimmer into their imaginations as they pass through the derelict spaces. Yet it is only when the two people finally meet and admit their human frailty that hope is restored.
At the heart of Your Hand In Mine is the belief that people can find redemption through each other in the oddest ways, and that to be hopeful is to commit to your imagination – wherever it takes you.
